I was interviewed on the “Open To Hope” podcast this past Thursday, October 21! I spoke with Drs. Gloria and Heidi Horsley about my experience of losing my wife, Susan, how poetry helped me to express my grief, and how I came to write Voices of the Grieving Heart. I also read a couple of poems from the book. The Open to Hope podcast reaches over 7 million people per year! You can find it here.
Come listen to my discussion with Charlie Rossiter about Voices of the Grieving Heart and poetry’s unique power to serve as both a mirror and a witness through the most difficult experience many of us will ever face: working through grief after the death of someone we loved. I read a number of poems from the book, reflecting different aspects of grief. The discussion was interesting and lively!
I was interviewed LIVE on Good Grief with Cheryl Jones, Wednesday May 5 at 2PM. We talked about losing someone we love, Voices of the Grieving Heart and reading and writing poems as a tool of healing. Listen here: https://www.voiceamerica.com/episode/131063/voices-of-the-grieving-heart
Joshua interviewed Mike about grieving after losing Susan, about Voices of the Grieving Heart, and particularly about several dreams Mike had in which Susan came to visit. One of those dreams is recounted in a poem which appears in the book. Four other poems from other contributors, about dreams they had, are also included.
The podcast will be released on April 17, and we’ll post the link here.
Mike spent an hour with Charlotte Jones, British host of the podcast “Be Boujee Be True Be You.” Charlotte is focusing on grief and loss this season, and she asked excellent questions about how creativity can help when we are grieving.
The podcast will be released on April 7, the same day as the book launch! We’ll post a link here when it’s available.
