Mike Bernhardt is an award-winning writer whose work has appeared in many print and online publications including DIVER Magazine, Journey Beyond Travel, GeoEx Travel, Hidden Compass, and others.
He grew up in New York City, where he wrote poetry and kept a journal throughout his teenage years. He moved to the San Francisco Bay Area when he was nineteen and was working as an electrician when he met his first wife, Susan, in 1983.
Susan died in 1991. In the years that followed, Mike published the first edition of Voices of the Grieving Heart, remarried, and raised a son with his second wife, Yvonne. Mike has volunteered as a peer grief support volunteer and is a Certified Grief Educator. He has spoken to groups, on radio, and on podcasts to discuss this book, his experience of grief, and how poetry can help us to express the inexpressible. He and his family reside in the San Francisco Bay Area with their two cats.
